The amount of time it will take for your car to be picked up and delivered will be based off of distance, road conditions, traffic, USDOT regulations. Commercial vehicles are considered to be any vehicles over 11,000 lbs weight that transport freight or commodity for hire by a 2nd or 3rd party. Commercial vehicles are subject to rules and regulations while traveling on US public roads. Such rules restrict weight, size, and amount of truck drivers driving time. A commercial truck drivers carry a recorded record start of trip, stops along the way, rest periods, and driving hours. The USDOT regulates the allowed time for driving to prevent drivers from falling alseep behind the wheel from fatigue and not resting.

Besides operating on an limited amount of operating time all truck drivers are also mandated to rest for certain amount of time usually 10 hours. Between distance, hours of operation and mandatory rest time the transporter can make a general estimate on the transport trucks travel time when they reach certain checkpoints.

The most significant factor that will determine the overall transit time will be the origin and destination of the vehicle. The distance between pickup and drop off for all the vehicles on the trailer will usually be the biggest determining factor for overall transport time. However the location of the vehicles pickup and drop off address in relation to major Highways and Interstates Highways can cause moderate to serious delays. With multiple vehicles being loaded and unloaded on a transport trip it is cost efficient if the transport truck stays within close proximity to the highway. Transport carriers try to avoid small town and city streets as there is to many stop lights and traffic congestion. The whole concept of trucking regardless of the freight carried is to keep moving as the truck only makes money when it moves. On top off that time is money for a trucking company so moving more freight in less time is the goal to turn a profit.

Certain times of the year commercial truck drivers will try to avoid transporting vehicles and freight because of road traffic. Holidays like Christmas, New Years Eve, July 4th, Memorial Weekend are just a few of the major holidays that commercial truck drivers try to avoid. Traffic and road conditions during these busy times tends increase past normal peak rush hour levels causing major backups. For a commercial truck driver travel during these times increases fuel cost, risk of accidents, and traffic delays. Nobody likes stop and go traffic and that especially goes for a commercial truck driver as that means more driver fatigue and fuel consumption. The laws of physics will work against a truck as it requires more fuel/energy to move and vehicle/object from a stop up to the speed limit. For commercial vehicles keeping a steady pace is ideal as it eliminates added wear and tear on the mechanical components of the truck. It is best to avoid transporting your vehicle around these times to avoid delays or extra cost.

The unknown factor in estimated delivery time will be the drop off or pickup location of other vehicles on the transport trailers along with miscellaneous delays. These delays can range from traffic, weather conditions, and mechanical problems on the transport truck. When a transport truck gives you an estimated pickup and delivery schedule they try to included all of the above into the time estimate. When shipping a vehicle the transport truck will give you time estimate but you must keep in mind that it is an estimate. As the car carrier gets to the pickup or drop off point they will then be able to give tighter time frame estimations.

Now That Is A Loaded Question

Now That Is A Loaded Question

For really good answers backed up by very good reasons for them, simply go to the internet where all of that information is available,.

First you must understand the reasons for the variety in prices throughout the industry of shipping vehicles. And believe me there are several.

Firm Costs: Start off with the cost of a tractor/trailer rig which in today’s world can run up around $500,000.00. Add to that insurance of about $10,000.00 – $25,000.00 per year, fuel costs of over $4.00 per gallon (these trucks will average 3 – 4 miles per gallon) maintenance, repairs, tires, and depreciation. Don’t forget to include the cost of licensing, permitting, and paying a driver and you are starting to get the idea. Operating an auto hauler is a very expensive operation

Marketing Costs: OK, now you own an auto transport rig, but in order to make any money you must find customers. This typically can run several thousand dollars a month.

From those with high prices (they simply won’t move their truck unless they are getting top prices) to those with the Walmart plan of offering super low pricing in order to stay busy with high volumes of business, you will find many different schools of thought when it comes to pricing. The auto transport industry will have all types from top to bottom. If is certain that somewhere from top to bottom and most places in between, you will find the price that meets with your approval.

The secret to first discovering the range of prices is to compare several. After doing that, either call or wait to be called (if you provide a phone number). You can also simply provide an email address and most brokers will be happy to forward information in a prompt manner.

In order to really be smart about this you will need to do your homework. The American Trucker is known as an independent spirit. This translates into a wide range of pricing for the same delivery job when you compare the prices across a wide range of quotes. This is not about being right or wrong, several prices are available. This is about being smart and comparing prices.

Some differences in the way brokers do business are deposits. Some require deposits up front and some don’t. Both are correct in the way they do things, they just don’t agree. Most if not all will want final payment in the form of a cashier’s check or money order paid to the driver and that is the normal way of doing it.

Searching Google is one of the best and easiest ways to get pricing. Simply search under auto transport quotes or auto shipping quotes and select one of the many that come up. Provide them with your information and submit. With quotes in hand you will be ready to talk with a broker. This is the time to ask all of the questions you may have concerning your auto transport. Broker’s that truly want your business will be happy to provided answers at this point.

Really great quote providers only recommend the “good guys” so understand that most of the pre-screening has in fact already been done. A service that further enhances you auto shipping experience

Many things are sold on the internet every day. No place is more popular than eBay when it comes to selling your stuff. People sell things from little knick knacks to model cars to real cars. People all over this country are packaging the things they sell and shipping them across the country. However, how would you package a car?

Most people sell cars online with stipulation that they are for local pick up only. However, a seller could gain a competitive advantage if they could offer to ship it at a reasonable cost. Auto transport happens all over the country every day. The majority of the trucks carrying cars are not full. This was a situation that offered a win win to both the auto transport company and the individual seller of cars.

Dealerships are the ones that most typically have used auto transport companies in the past. However, the transport companies have opened things up in order to find a solution to sending half empty trucks out onto the road each day. While the idea to do this was great, they found that people simply were not as familiar as they needed to be with them in order to use them. For individual sellers it is a bit daunting to find and connect with auto transport companies. The job of trying to coordinate pick up with the right company for the right place at the right time for the right price is more than most sellers wanted to deal with.

There are companies out there that are designed to help hook up the seller and the auto transport company. This makes this process of shipping a vehicle through a transport company a lot easier. Shipping a vehicle is not an easy task, but it does become a lot easier when you can hook up with a company like that.

Initially, auto transport companies existed for the sole purpose to transport cars from one dealership to another. That resulted in a lot of half full transport trucks. The underutilized transport companies saw a need to do something that would make their business more efficient, while not reducing the number of trips that they were taking in order to have vehicles to car lots in a timely fashion. Without a solution, the expensive transport costs were simply being passed onto the consumer.

When these companies opened up to the idea of transporting other vehicles that were not from dealerships, they found that they could be much more efficient and make the same kind of money per vehicle transported while lowering the individual cost to ship a single vehicle.

Besides selling vehicles, some people use these services to transport multiple vehicles to a new home when they are moving across long distances. This allows them to save on the costs of gas to get all of their cars to their new home.

Whether you need auto transport to ship a vehicle that you have sold or need them to ship multiple vehicles to your new home you should take a look into transport companies and services. In order to get started on finding an auto transport service, search the internet.
