Using summer car tyres through the winter months really isn’t a good idea! They do not enable your vehicle to perform to the best of its capability and do not work as well. It’s really important to make sure that your tyres are suitable for the climate – having the appropriate tyres will mean that your stopping distances and handling are at the best that they can be. It’s really important to make sure that your stopping distances are great as this can help you easily lessen the number of accidents on the road.

Any time you take your summer tyres of to fit your winter tyres, you should ensure that you’re storing them away correctly so that they’re in good knick when the time comes to refit them to your vehicle. The number one spot to store them would be a garage or you might even pop them in your garden shed. It’s a good idea to hang them up or stack them on top of one another. When you put them away, you must make sure that they are clean (you are able to do this by using just water) and they must be dry too.

In the event that you’re concerned about driving in wintry conditions, the most suitable ways to make sure that you’re staying safe is by driving in a safe manor and by ensuring your tyres are fitted appropriately and that you have the right type of tyres fitted.

It’s always an excellent idea to make use of both winter tyres and winter wheels to make certain that you’re fully prepared for the challenging road conditions. Using both of these simultaneously can lead to your vehicles performance improving considerably.

You will find car tyres for winter that will fit any car because they come in a variety of different sizes. The enhanced grip makes for a better ride that will undoubtedly benefit you and help you out on the icy roads.

If you want to find out lots more about winter tyres, it’s a good idea to take a look at winter tyres on the web.

It is against the law to use a vehicle if you do not have a valid insurance certificate that says you are covered to use it at that particular time.

It is against the law to use a vehicle if you do not have a valid insurance certificate that says you are covered to use it at that particular time.

The offence of driving without insurance is taken very seriously by the Magistrates Court due to the possible implications if you were to crash.

In order to be found guilty of driving without insurance, the Prosecutor only has to prove that you were driving the vehicle on a public road at the time in question and it is down to the defendant (you) to prove that you had insurance and you were allowed to be driving it. This is an unusually way of proceeding in court, but it is this way because it would be extremely time consuming and nearly impossible for the Prosecutor to prove that you were not insured because they would have to go to every insurance provider in the country and check that you aren’t insured with each of them. It is therefore your responsibility to prove that you did have insurance to be driving the vehicle at the time in question.

One of the most common ways in which people get caught out with the no insurance law is that they may not actually drive the car, but the law states that you only have to have use of the vehicle in order to be liable for punishment under the no insurance law. Having use of the vehicle can simply mean having the vehicle parked on a public road outside your house and if it is not insured, then you can be prosecuted.

Another common way in which people get accused of driving with no insurance, not believing that they have actually done so is when they believe that their fully comprehensive insurance policy means that they can drive anyone’s car with their permission. Many insurance policies do not actually state that this is allowed.

It is of paramount importance that you understand the terms of your insurance policy and you make sure each and every time you drive either your vehicle or someone else’s that you are actually insured.

Where you used to be able to use driving without due care and attention or a momentary lapse in concentration as something of an excuse for a driving offence, these themselves are now driving offences.

by Johann Ken Flanders

Where you used to be able to use driving without due care and attention or a momentary lapse in concentration as something of an excuse for a driving offence, these themselves are now driving offences.

Organisations such as MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) have been campaigning for such changes in the law for some time. Several areas of the country have different levels of punishment for this offence depending on the outcome of the careless driving in question.

What is surprising is that people dont really seem to take driving without due care and attention very seriously. In fact, people seem to side with the offenders and advise them on how to avoid their punishment. In an online forum we found one case where a man was charged for wheel-spinning his car on gravel by going very fast and kicking up lots of dust and gravel. The officer that charged him says in his report that there was a petrol pump nearby and it was open, and so could have caused a large accident and many potential injuries. The question he put on the forum was that if he could prove that the petrol pump was closed would that benefit his case in any way. And surprisingly, dozens of people replied with advice about how to get out of the charge and how to prove that something in the officers report was wrong!

Each year negligent driving is the cause of tens of thousands of people either being killed or seriously injured and we dont really take much notice of it. Thousands of people lose their driving licence each year (at least temporarily) because of careless driving and quite often they simply get back behind the wheel the next day without a valid licence. A lot of the time, the people living in the surrounding areas usually know when someone is doing this and dont pull them up on it, this is why we have a lot of the road accidents we have in the country.

Although as an offence, driving without due care and attention is not deemed as important as drunk driving or driving while talking on the phone, it is still one of the leading causes of road accidents and needs to be addressed with greater seriousness.

Some people think that buying a used car is a lot of hassle. They think that their money would be better spent on a brand new car, one they can be certain of its history. However, what they fail to realize is even with a new car, there is the probability of existing problems. The trick is not to purchase a new car simply to avoid difficulty, but to do some research to get a perfect purchase experience regardless of your choice.

The first thing to remember when buying used cars is to never trust what the seller says. If you are buying from a dealership, demand to see a vehicle history report. Do NOT trust the car title. Sometimes, during transport, the details of a car title are altered. If you only go by the information on the title, you run the risk of receiving a car that was listed as “totalled” just a little while ago in another location. This is the case of many cars that were sold post-Hurricane Katrina. Dozens of flooded cars made their way north and were resold with clean slates. Meanwhile, corrosion was eating away at their inner workings. This is not to say that all used car dealers are dishonest or that they should be treated as criminals. However, their main goal is to make money and they may not be as thorough as you would be concerning a “new” vehicle.

Before you spend your hard earned cash on used cars, become acquainted with the “lemon” laws in your country or state. Lemon laws are designed for the reselling of cars. They declare that if a purchased car fails an inspection within a certain amount of time, you are fully entitled to a refund. These laws were created to protect the consumer, but you can’t utilize them properly if you are not aware of their advantages or purchase a vehicle “as-is”.

Another important thing to bear in mind is that the person selling the car might not be the actual owner. When you buy a used car from an individual, be sure to check the registration details of the vehicle before you make any commitments. The last thing you want is to find out that you bought a car which has a list of liens against it. The problem can be avoided by going to a respectable dealership.

Whether you purchase a new car or a used car, always remember “you get what you pay for”. Whilst you should try to find a good deal, don’t jump at the cheapest one. Always check the mileage and age of the car against that car’s make and model. If it’s too old or has travelled too far, leave it. It makes more sense to try to negotiate a reliable car than to purchase one that’s dirt cheap that will likely fail when you need it most. The internet is a great place to search for such information with a wealth of do’s and don’ts.
