You can often find the used car buying tips in the classified ads of local newspapers or on the Internet. Usually, these vehicles on the ads provide the mileage, history of the vehicle, the selling price and other vital information that can be of great help for you to check on the background of the unit. You can also verify if you want to, if the unit is not a hot stuff or involved in any illegal activities.

In case, there is an existing liability involving the vehicle like in the case of a chattel mortgage, you must be ready to assume the terms if it is favorable to you. Weigh things out very carefully before you put your foot into anothers shoe for you might get lame later on. It is of utmost importance to know if the vehicle is not in any manner under any legal impediments or encumbrance or lien for your own protection.

You should be able to determine the insurability of the unit for it insurance companies might not guarantee it should it be accident-prone vehicle. If that is the case, though how good the offer is, just forget about it. Unless you want to gamble because of its tempting price and you are the kind of a driver who runs your car at one mile per hour! The accident history of the vehicle is very important. You must determine if it has had any mishap and for how many times.

It does not matter even if you are buying it from a friend not unless you have some other considerations behind everything. The used car is clean and the price is truly great but look at the safety features too if it is worth the price. If it will make you spend more dollars to get your car secured and safe for you and the family, then give it a second thought.

You can find some good car dealers online if you browse and inquire from reputable websites. Online vehicle dealers can become good advisers. It is also best to buy cars from established car dealers for they will not do anything to put their name at stake. They also provide sound used car buying tips.

It is important that you do a little research for some tips for buying a car so you can buy the vehicle that gives you the best for your needs. It is also important that you get advices from experts and professionals. Car dealers may give you good points to sell their units but the things vital for your safety and comfort may not be totally addressed.

If there are good cars on sale and one of those units suit your purpose then you can settle for one. Some car dealers offer approved loans or payment by installment so you can opt for it if you do not have the ready cash. Choose the model you prefer and make sure it offers benefits for you and whole family. Compare prices from one car dealer from the other before you jump into getting one.

Motor vehicles, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), claim the lives of more children every year in the United States than any other causes. The children must always be secured by some kind of safety measure, no matter how short the drive is. It is very critical to check on car safety devices for everyone which is not only for the driver but especially for parents and caregivers of children.

Those children from age 8 and below must be secured in either a car safety seat or a belt-positioning booster seat, depending on their age and size. Safety features must be available in the car you wish to buy. Statistically, it is safe for children age 12 and younger to sit in the backseat when traveling in a vehicle.

There are also car seats which re available to meet the requirements of children with special needs. Sometimes a child normally outgrows the seats so these can be used beyond the age of the child. The vehicle must have extra pads and devices that allow it to secure children up to one hundred five (105) pounds of forty eight (48) kilograms. Safety is one of the best tips for buying a car.

GPS systems are now used for a number of everyday situations. You will no longer need to worry about paper maps when driving. You will no longer need to worry about getting lost in the woods when you take your family camping. Boaters and fishermen use them to avoid shallow water and no longer need to rely solely on lighthouses, landmarks and guesswork to keep from running aground. And parents can rest easier knowing that if their child gets lost, they will be able to find them.

Car GPS systems are probably the most recognized use of the GPS technology. Drivers use these GPS navigation systems by simply entering the address of their intended destination into the GPS device and then following the detailed directions the GPS devices reports back the correct course decisions to the driver. If the driver needs to go off the established course for any reason, the device will quickly recalculate the correct course from the new starting position. This feature alone is worth the price of the GPS system as it will save drivers tons of headaches by not subjecting them to large paper maps and a low wattage interior light on a dark night. What is also desirable is some of the new GPS devices that come equipped with a voice feature that allows drivers to keep their eyes where they should be – on the road.

Car GPS systems are used most extensively by consumers. Simply put the target address into the system and you get detailed directions from your current location to the destination. This beats having to plot the route out on your map. It comes in handy when you accidentally make wrong turns or have an unscheduled pit stop off your route. The GPS system will quickly recalculate a route to the desired location. This is immensely easy on drivers and they no longer have to deal with pulling the map out again and re-plotting their route. It is all done in seconds. Additionally, many GPS systems have a voice feature that gives audio instructions so that you may keep your eyes on the road. These GPS systems can also be incorporated in vehicles to show the nearest gas stations when the fuel level is low. They also can be programmed to show places of interest such as restaurants.

GPS navigation can also be used to keep track of wayward children. When children play outside, they rarely keep track of their present surroundings and the lost child is a story that is as old as Man. GPS tracking keeps this from having to happen again. Parents only need to use the GPS devices and they can find their child if he or she ever wanders off and gets lost.

If you have been shopping online for GPS you will already know that there are tons of different models and manufacturers out there. The market leader in GPS devices is Garmin. There are other big GPS companies such as Magellan and Tom Tom but Garmin is the one that is most recognizable. The number of different devices these manufacturers have brought to market is considerable. The best place to find them all and compare is to go online and see.

If you want to reduce your stress level on that long sales drive or simply want to keep your children safe from harm, getting a GPS system is a no brainer. Simply go online and search for the models and manufacturers so you can compare them side by side and get the best deals. The three names you will hear alot are Garmin, Magellan and Tom Tom. These are the ones with the biggest marketshare and will generally not steer you wrong. Between the three, there is a GPS system that is perfect for you.

4×4 insurance rates are often higher than the rates for other vehicles and take extra effort to find good rates for. Your 4×4 will be seen by insurers as extra risky and more hazardous, making your insurance rates much higher. You can avoid these prices by taking the right actions. The most important factor to getting low rates is to search online for multiple different quotes.

Your first goal should be to assure your insurance agent that your 4×4 will be kept safe and out of site while it is parked at home. One of the biggest risks with these trucks and SUVs is that they will be stolen or vandalized. Keep your 4×4 either in a garage or behind the house where it will not be seen. While acknowledging that your vehicle is at lower risk for these occurrences you may get lower rates.

Extra driving experience on 4×4 vehicles is also a plus for insurance agents. You might have to borrow a vehicle from a friend or family member to gain this experience, but it can shave a few dollars from your monthly payments. With a little experience under your belt you will be more comfortable with the handling a 4×4 before you sit behind the wheel of your own. Obviously, a few years of experience driving one is better than a few weeks.

Keeping your driving record clean is always an important part to getting low insurance rates. The fewer claims you have on your record, the better. If an insurance agent sees you already have several different claims they will charge you even more for insurance just because you are at a higher risk. If you manage to go for a period of time without any claims you may subject for a claims bonus, a discount given to drivers after about a year of claims-free driving. Mention that you this and your insurance agent will work to get you the best rates possible. Sometimes you may want to pay for an accident yourself just to save money that may add up to more if spend on increased rates from claims. This only works if the accident was very small and with little damage.

The security of your 4×4 will always be looked at before you get a final rate on insurance. Agents will ask what type of features it has and what category the safely standards are. If you have a category 1 or 2 4×4 you can get lower rates. Better security insures that your vehicle will be less likely to be damaged or stolen.

If you are in the military or National Guard be sure to mention it to your agent. Insurance companies offer special rates for these individuals without much hassle. If you are not in the military try to take advantage of the other discounts available to get lower rates. Search around online and compare quotes to find the company with the lowest prices before visiting their company for an in depth policy.

by Ross Everett

Though his fame would be eclipsed by his son Richard, Lee Petty was a very successful race car driver in his own right and a pioneer during the early days of the sport. His legacy includes not only his son, better known to NASCAR fans as “The King” Richard Petty and Petty Enterprises has fielded race teams for four generations.

Lee Petty was one of the first serious businessmen to own a NASCAR team back in the day when many drivers earned the bulk of their income from bootlegging and running moonshine. He competed in the first ever sanctioned NASCAR race on June 19th, 1949 and has the dubious distinction of causing the first caution flag in that race. The elder Petty won 50 NASCAR races including the first one ever run on a paved track. He also caused his share of trouble, including a number of fistfights. He once hit Curtis Turner over the head with a wrench and started a brawl during the pre-race festivities on another occasion. The fracas ended when Mrs. Petty joined the fray swinging her purse–which contained a .44 handgun.

Lee also won three NASCAR championships (the precursor to today’s Sprint Cup) during his career. He also shepherded his son, Richard, into the sport. Surprisingly, things didn’t immediately go well for the Petty offspring–he’d race only 9 times in the first season and ended up in a wreck more often than not. He’d eventually turn things around and the man now known as “The King” Richard Petty would go on to win a staggering 200 NASCAR races–a mark that may never be broken.

Lees career was cut short by a nasty accident at the 1961 Daytona 500, where his car hit a guard rail and flipped a few times. Lee suffered a number of broken bones and internal injuries. He raced a few more times, but hung it up for good in 1964. He left the management of Petty Engineering to his sons Richard and Maurice and spent his time enjoying friends and family and playing golf. He played frequently until a few months before his death in 2000 at age 86 after surgery to treat a stomach aneurysm.

Lee Petty has a number of NASCAR records that may never be touched. He finished in the top 5 an amazing 231 times, and still holds the record for the best average finish for a full time driver at 7.6th place. This was all done before big money sponsorships against part time felons that ran moonshine for a living, making his achievements all the more impressive.

As a person who frequents online classifieds specializing in the sale of cars, I found it frustrating and a waste of time that many of the sites on the first page of Googles search results had infrequent ad postings. New ads did not show up for days in a row. I asked a more tech savvy friend of mine for help and he showed me how Alexa and Google Pagerank could help me out.

The first thing I did was get the latest version of Firefox, an absolutely fantastic browser. The speed improved, I could conveniently view different sites on different tabs and could reopen the same tabs every time I reopened my browser. Even if my computer shut down on its own. The next thing I did was download and install Alexas website ranking and the Google Pagerank toolbars.

Alexa is one of the premier website ranking authority on the web. The toolbar once installed shows up as a graph and number in the lower right corner of your Firefox browser and as a bar alongside each of the search results in Google. The number indicates the websites daily global traffic ranking with a lower number representing higher traffic. The bar is longer for higher-ranking sites and also displays the ranking number upon moving your cursor over the bar. The more visitors a site has the better the ranking.

Googles Pagerank grades websites on a scale of zero to ten and shows up in the upper section of your browser. Ten is the best score awarded and depends on a host of factors like number of visitors, how old the site is, new content and other high-ranking sites that link to it. The scores are revised after larger intervals of time.

Once you’re done installing and familiarizing your self with these tools begin searching. Type in the most apt keywords like used cars on sale and your search results now actually have meaning. I filter sites in the search results based on the Alexa rank, clicking sites within a ranking of sixty-to-seventy thousand. I then explore each site to see which ones rank higher n Google. I now have a great resource that lets me find the best deals available with fresh offers for all kinds of cars on these different websites.

The use of these tools is not restricted to the search for great deals on cars alone. It can be used practically for all the things you search for on the internet. Its simple and once you get past installing and getting acquainted with these utilities you wont want to search the web in any other way.

4×4 owners may wonder why their insurance rates are higher than they are with cars. The fact is that 4×4 vehicles are much different than normal cars and vehicles. They have extra capabilities and features that the insurance company sees as more hazardous. You should know what to expect before you buy a 4×4 vehicle.

While it depends what policy you have, most of the time car insurance is very basic in its coverage. In most cases it will cover the other driver and their vehicle. Other policies include your vehicle and even cover theft or weather damage. 4×4 vehicles are not much different in how they are insured however they are different in what happens in a crash scenario. When a crash happens a 4×4 vehicle will do more damage than a normal car would. Thus it makes your rates increase.

Another important factor is that 4×4 vehicles are known as high profile vehicles. They usually will be a target for theft more than an average car. This is especially true if the vehicle is kept in a public parking lot. Those who have a 4×4 vehicle and live in the city will pay more for insurance since their vehicle is more likely to be targeted due to higher crime rates.

Costs to fix 4×4 trucks and SUVs are much higher than the cost to fix regular vehicles. This is because parts are harder to find and repair. Insurance companies will look at this as an extra cost to insure your vehicle and will charge you more. If you have extra features added to your 4×4 that didn?t come with the stock you will have to get extra insurance to have these repaired in case of an accident. Insurance companies won?t voluntarily pay for these extra add-ons unless your policy specifically covers them.

Finally the biggest difference between 4×4 vehicles and cars is it?s off road capabilities. Your standard car insurance won?t cover your vehicle if you go off road. This means that you will have to either pay for the repair costs yourself or have to see if your car insurance company offers off road protection. If they do then you will have to pay a higher rate. Also if you?re an enthusiast that likes to race or enter other various competitions you may have to get those covered separately. In some instances it?s better to be covered for a single day then pay high interest rates every month.

It?s important to know that as with sports cars 4×4 vehicles will be more expensive naturally when it comes to insurance. The best thing you can do is to compare quotes from various companies and find the lowest rate. You can also greatly reduce the rate of your vehicle by having it just for a recreational vehicle. You will also want to read through the policies that each company offers. This is because some companies will cover some situations while others won?t. If you plan on doing something besides driving your 4×4 vehicle you should ask your insurance agent what they can cover.

Denny Hamlin, pegged as a future NASCAR superstar, ended a sophomore slump of sorts when he won the rain delayed Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway. The race had originally been scheduled for a day earlier but was pushed back due to rain. The win was Hamlins first of the season and broke a 50 race winless streak. His last victory had come in 2008 at Martinsville Raceway.

After the race, an emotional Hamlin dedicated the victory to his grandmother who passed away late last week at the age of 91. His grandmother reportedly followed his career closely and watched every race:

She understands the competition of the sport and she understands how much she means to me. Like today, she’s pretty proud. We definitely had some angels with us today.”

The unique triangle configuration track at Pocono bedevils many drivers, but Hamlin has always performed well here. He swept both races here as a rookie in 2006 and after the race his boss J.D. Gibbs made note of that fact:

I told him earlier, we’re going to lobby for a few extra races at Pocono”

Hamlin moved up to fifth in the NASCAR championship points standings after the victory. Tony Stewart increased his lead over Jimmie Johnson to 197 points with a top ten finish.

Juan Pablo Montoya finished second, moving him up to 8th place in the overall points standings. Clint Bowyer finished third and expressed pleasure with the solid performance in his postrace comments:

“Things haven’t been going our way all year long so it feels good to have something swing our way.

Former Indy Car driver Sam Hornish, Jr. took fourth. Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five.

NASCAR heads to Watkins Glen, NY to race on the road course there for the next race. Current points leader Tony Stewart is considered not only the best road course driver among current NASCAR competitors, but arguably the best of all time. The following week NASCAR travels to the Michigan International Speedway for the CarFax 400.
