ATV’s were made for use in farming, for moving supplies and traveling all-around farm acreage. They have since transformed into a sport for many individuals and are at present even used for racing. People love the joy that ATV’s provide and also the enormous range of terrain that ATV’s open up for exploring. ATV’s are able to give a lot of enjoyment for riders and be a worthwhile activity.

ATV’s will also be dangerous, particularly for children. Adults are regularly injured when they lose management of an ATV and youngsters have even less ability and experience than adults. This is not to mention that children should not be permitted to use an ATV, however they need to adhere to strict safety rules in order to avoid harm.

Children ought to be taught that an ATV isn’t a toy and should be operated with care and with safety in mind. They must be made aware of all the security rules and in no way permitted to ride without supervision. If youngsters appreciate how unsafe ATV’s will be and what they have to do to stay safe, they can be at a abundant lower possibility of being hurt.

The most effective factor you’ll do for your child before they’re permitted to ride is make them go to an approved ATV coaching course. Many places require riders under sixteen to require a coaching lessons before they can legally use which could be a sensible plan anyway whether or not your area does not expect it. You should attend the coaching lessons with your child so that you are also acquainted with ATV safety and will put into effect the safety rules your kid learned.

An additional necessary safety practice for you and your youngster is riding the right sized ATV. Youngsters should never ride an grown-up sized ATV, as they are sometimes too massive for them to comfortably control and improve the likelyhood of injury. If you’re going to buy your child an ATV make certain you get a youth sized ATV that is not excessively large for your child. You ought to additionally think about the motor size as a more powerful engine means a faster ATV. Kids ought to only drive an ATV that they will be able to handle.

Sporting acceptable safety gear is additionally an vital part of ATV safety. Youngsters should at all times wear helmets, gloves, goggles, long pants and a long sleeved shirt. Most places need helmet use by law however whether or not they do not, a helmet ought to continuously be worn. Using safety gear can forestall several injuries that can arise when riders have an accident. Make certain that the protection equipment you purchase for your youngster fits properly and is of high quality. You must make certain that the security gear your child uses is rated for ATV use.

The last issue you ought to always do to keep your child safe, is to examine their ATV prior to every use. Teach your youngster how to examine their ATV as well and you’ll be able to then each make certain it stays in excellent working condition and will not stop working or malfunction throughout use. If you and your kid follow these safety guidelines, your kid will have a safe and enjoyable time with their ATV.

When it’s time to buy motorcycle insurance, you can’t go wrong considering the following four factors before you shop. Insurance companies pretty much all think alike. And these are the risk factors that they always consider when they figure your rates.

1. Experience and age of the driver — of course you can’t make yourself any older or instantly change your driving record but be aware that these are major factors in the rate calculation. The more driving experience and the fewer accidents on your record the better you will do with insurance companies.

Even so, younger riders as well as older can often reduce their rates by simply taking a safe driver class. Drivers of all ages will get significant rate advantages the longer their driving record is free of accidents and claims.

2. Motorcycle age and cost — Since it costs the insurance company more to replace newer more expensive bikes, it naturally costs more in insurance premiums to own one. Bike modifications can also significantly increase replacement and insurance costs. Don’t do them unless you’re willing to pay.

First-time biker’s and younger bikers might consider buying an older bike with a smaller engine. Not only will the cost of insurance go down because of the lower replacement cost, but accident risk also decreases with smaller and less powerful engines. If you buy a souped-up racing bike expect the insurance company to charge you souped-up rates.

3. Storage and security — store your bike in a secure area and the insurance company will take notice. You will typically get lower rates if the bike is stored in a locked garage as opposed to outside on the street, for example.

Similarly if you have an immobilizing device or other security device like LoJack on your bike you will score points with your insurance company. You can purchase and install an effective bike immobilizer device for less than $100.

4. Driver and passenger safety — these days most states require a helmet. Frankly you’re nuts if you don’t wear one, and insurance companies will charge you much more, Check with your company on possible discounts for the use of other basic safety equipment.

Insuring passengers is expensive but necessary. Make sure they wear the same safety equipment and have the same coverage as you. You may not realize it, but bikers are sued more often by passengers than anyone else. If you typically do not have passengers you should be able to pay less for your insurance.

Once you have bought your bike a number of these factors are pretty much locked in. So it’s worth your while to think about this before you buy and or when you are changing bikes. You can save yourself a lot of money in your insurance bill if you take these factors into consideration.

Dan Danmenn enjoys writing insiteful reports and internet sites for motor-bikers on how to save money on insurance. If you found this article useful you might also enjoy his newest website Motorcycle Insurance Quotes where you can learn more about buying Motor Bike Insurance

In the race car industry, drivers are constantly taking extraordinary risks as they zoom down the raceway at incredible speeds in pursuit of that lusted-after trophy, record, etc. In light of the mightily high stakes involved in this sport, car designers and mechanical teams place a lot of priority on the safety issues in such cars; this attention has given rise to a wealth of different technologies of wide use, not only within the racing field.

The racing harness is perhaps the most significant safety mechanism inside a racing vehicle, and race car drivers effectively invest their hopes for survival on their personal driving talent and the integrity and functionality of their harness.

Over the course of time, many different kinds of racing harnesses have been invented and put into place in vehicles, without a single variety being designated as standard for the industry. As successive accidents and problems arose, designers and engineers discovered ever more valuable information about the nature of safety in a race car, and hence advanced the qualities of racing harnesses considerably to where they are today, which is quite advanced compared to even just twenty years ago.

Of the many differences that exist between racing harnesses and ordinary car seat belts the most significant is the fact that the former is bound to the car’s subframe or frame, and is not bound to the seat itself such as is the case for normal cars. Safety on-board for the driver is majorly increased through this sole innovation.

In the race car industry, it is common to see harnesses incorporating 4 or more straps; 6 straps is at this point basically the most common set up. As mentioned above about the cause for safety advances, it was the death of a famous racing driver–Dale Earnhardt in this case–that prompted the industry to make the leap from the 5-point to the 6-point harness. The additional strap on the 6-point harness is located between the legs.

Beyond the issue of the number of straps a harness may include, a big distinction of racing harnesses is the particular fastening mechanism being used. Just as with the straps, it is common to see quite different models and fastening mechanisms from one race car to the next, and in all cases the technology is quite significantly different than in ordinary car seat belt latches.

The necessity for a perfect balance between sturdiness and lightness is in this case (as with all other components of a race car) a driving factor, and it is no simple accomplishment. In the search for the perfect material in this regard, Carbon Fiber has received a lot of attention and is currently utilized by several principal manufacturers.

It is very important from a safety perspective that the harness’s lock be practically impossible to release while operating the car, and the cam lock buckle has presented excellent qualities in this sense. When you add to this design a rotational locking mechanism, it is all but impossible to unlock while driving, which is a major safety conquest. Further problems are avoided by making them dust proof and shockproof.

An interesting curiosity of the racing harness business is that many models developed and many lessons learned have been put into practice not only in the auto racing field, but furthermore on passenger and even military aircraft; the biggest racing harness suppliers are also major airplane seat buckle suppliers.

Byron Jonas knows that the racing harness is an important element of car racing safety. Which is why, as per with all his race gear, he only buys from GMP Racing Products

Outfitting your racing car is key to performing well in competition, and having the best race harness is an essential part of a driver’s safety check. In fact, drivers must be sure that a harness will qualify within a sanctioning body’s safety code. Many organizations are requiring the use of a six-point race harness in competition, like the ones available from Schroth, the company supplying seat belts for many top-flight Formula 1 teams.

Schroth has really taken the lead in the design of race harnesses by producing the lightest buckle available today. Their safety belts are used by both Boeing and Airbus for their airplanes. GMP Racing Products serves as the main distributor for Schroth harnesses in Australia.

Schroth 6-Point belts employ carbon fibre to achieve the remarkably light weight in belts that are without parallel in safety harnesses. A 3″ shoulder strap (using dual sub straps) plus a lap belt of 3″ in length adds up to a T-bar weight of just 2.17 kg. Schroth’s Prof III race harness ensures that the belt will not come undone during competition by employing their locking system that puts rival belts to shame.

For HANS users concerned with sliding during the race, check out a Slip Stop Race Harness by Schroth which features rubber grips to keep equipment in place. Its standard 6-point harness has the comfort of a 2″ belt.

Drivers still not employing the HANS devices can use the Formula Race Harness, also equipped with 2″ belts, providing comfort and added flexibility in smaller spaces.

The Schroth Enduro Harness is without equal among race harnesses, simply the best belt available today. Quick entry and easy exits are done without a second thought with the Enduro belt. The unique Zip adjusters make this 6-Point harness extremely easy to use, along with bright hand-loops that can be accessed without trouble during the race.

For drivers who want to follow the example of the Ferrari team, go for a Sabelt harness. Sabelt harnesses are made in Italy and come available in 6-Points, as well as 4 and 5-Point models for club cars or weekend drivers.

Founded in 1967, Willans not only features a long run in race harness manufacturing but also an excellent record in Grand Prix championships by drivers using these English-made belts.

To satisfy your needs for an inexpensive FIA-approved belt (at an admittedly lower level of quality than Schroth belts), Monza harnesses are available from GMP.

For end harnesses outfitted with a clip, pick up eye bolts that will thread into almost any hole with their universal size, available in short and long configurations of hard steel quality.

For open-ended belts you will save a lot of time by using Schroth Snap-in ends, capable of fitting harness bolts.

Schroth Race Harnesses have not only surpassed the competition in safety belts, they have been one of the key innovators in safety technology for years, making them the choice of any conscientious driver who loves to race. Companies like Airbus and Boeing do not compromise when it comes to safety; neither should you.

Byron Jonas knows a race harness is an crucial piece of equipment for car racing safety. As such, as with all his car racing gear, he only trusts GMP Racing Products

If someone in your family has been nagging you about a motocross bike, consider an ebike mini dirt bike as your alternative to a traditional gas powered model. My nephew Paulo had been bugging me, but he’s only 12 and I didn’t think a big dirt bike would be appropriate. So I bought him a razor mini dirt bike for Christmas. He loves it.

Because they run on electricity, mini dirt ebikes are also a lot cleaner and better for the environment than gas powered models. They do not put out harmful exhaust fumes like gas motors, and the only pollution from them comes from the risk of improper battery disposal and whatever was used to provide the energy for your home in the first place. Because power plants have strict standards nowadays, that will be much less of an impact than gasoline, so shrink your carbon footprint and ride electric! You can also cut down on noise pollution with these bikes too, as they are much, much more quiet than gas powered motors. Unlike that angry buzzing hornet sound with a normal dirt motorbike, these models have only a quiet hum of power, making them perfect for cruising along back country trails or racing through urban courses alike.

Bike enthusiasts will find an overwhelming variety of classy mini dirt bike models in the market. Before buying ones needs to carefully choose the right one that suits the requirement, budget and the engine type. These bikes are typically designed for traveling on uneven landscapes. They are manufactured by reputed bike makers like Honda, Pantera, Yamaha and Razor. Many banks lend loans to serious buyers. Sporty mini dirt bikes add glamour to the youngster’s lifestyle!

Mini dirt bikes are far less expensive to operate than their gas powered cousins, as in order to get the equivalent of a full tank of gas you have only to plug it into the power outlet in your wall for a few hours and you are ready to go. No more lugging around dangerous gas cans in the back of your car on the way to the dirt bike course or paying far too much a gallon to fill the thing in the first place! With an electric dirt bike, you can just pay for the cost of the electricity it took to charge the battery, which should run you up to 90% less.

Unlike commuter ebikes, range is not so much of an issue with a mini dirt bike, as you are rarely going more than 20 miles at a time. This means you can use the powerful motor to its fullest capacity, going as fast as you want and still have plenty of juice left over for another go or pulling some stunts around the course. The batteries take only a few hours to charge and then you can be off to the races again for another round.

Beginners are recommended to use a 4 stroke motor as opposed to a 2 stroke. This way the amount of power isn’t overwhelming. Kawasaki makes bikes that are ideal for beginners. Should you fall with the bike, which is unavoidable, you need to be able to pick the bike back up. As far as the height of the bike is concerned, you need to be able to put at least one foot on the ground. In some cases it is even easier to learn when both feet can touch.

It might help if you have a guide about dirtbikes that help you find the information you need when you are looking at used dirt bikes. Some of the popular brands include KTM, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki. These are not the only manufacturers of dirt bikes, but they are the most respected. The kind of used bikes you look at will mostly be determined by what you will be using it for and whether you are a beginner or an expert. Even experts can learn a little about dirtbikes.

Buying new Dirt Bikes can be expensive. A new 4500cc Dirt Bike, for instance, can cost you as much as $8000. So if you still want to enjoy the excitement of riding an off-road motorcycle without spending too much, the best option is to go for a Used Dirt Bike.

With technology the way it is today it seems like all the everyday conveniences of life are at our fingertips. This is no more apparent than the Internet. The Internet is constantly expanding in terms of it usages. With the Internet, you can make significant purchases like homes and vehicles as well as other less important buys like music and clothing. No matter what your interest are, you can find pretty much whatever you want online. People who are looking for an item like cheap dirt bikes are in luck as well.

For more and more people across the United States, the troubling economic climate is causing them to cut on their purchases. There are many items that are not feeling the cut. Items such as the basic essentials in life are remaining at constant levels. Let’s be honest; no matter how troubling the economy is, we are still going to purchase toilet paper and deodorant. One of the areas that has been hit the hardest is the riding industry. Men and women across the country have slowed their purchase of new motorcycles and dirt bikes. By shopping around, it is possible to still find the dirt bike of your dreams. That is, if you don’t mind the bike being used.

For many outdoor enthusiasts, camping and motor sports go hand in hand. Every weekend, millions of Americans head for the mountains for some camping and dirt biking. Whether you are a serious biker, or just a weekend warrior, a quality dirt bike is absolutely necessary. And it doesn’t have to be brand new to be high quality. In fact, given the recession, it is probably smarter to find somewhere offering used dirt bikes for sale to do your buying from. You could search around locally, but using the Internet is a better bet for finding high quality used bikes. In fact, the Internet is also the ideal place for selling used bikes, rather than doing it locally.

The internet provides clear advantages for people selling used bikes as well. By selling your used dirt bike on the internet, you can set a selling price that is exactly what the bike is worth. Selling locally often means either sitting on your bike because nobody is willing to pay what it is worth, or selling it for less. By utilizing the internet to find buyers, you are guaranteed to find someone looking to buy exactly what you have, for exactly what it is worth.

While there are a number of challenging tracks on the NASCAR stock car racing circuit, few have earned the fearsome reputation of South Carolina’s Darlington Raceway. Known as ‘the track too tough to tame’, its shaped like an egg with a surface that shreds tires. Some of the best drivers–including NASCAR’s ‘King’ Richard Petty never mastered it. David Person, on the other hand, dominated at Darlington. He won 10 races and won 12 poles–both records that will likely never be broken. He actually made the ‘track too tough to tame’ look downright easy.

David Pearson was born on December 22, 1934 in Whitney, SC”a textile town near Spartanburg. Like most of the locals, his parents worked in the local cotton mill and did their best to provide. David quit school after the 10th grade and went to work in the mill. It wasnt long, however, before his love of cars and racing made him leave the mill life behind. He bought a car and began racing at short tracks in the upstate. He ran his first race on 9/19/52 in Woodruff South Carolina. Within a few years, he won his first championship at the Greenville”Pickens Speedway in 1959.

Pearson never sought out stock car racing immortality, but some of his friends had other ideas. They began raising money to buy a car to race in the NASCAR Grand National series (the forerunner to today’s Sprint Cup). With a patchwork of financial backing, David began racing a limited schedule on the Grand National circuit and was named the 1960 rookie of the year. In 1961, he became the first driver in history to win on 3 of the 4 superspeedways in the same season (Charlotte, Atlanta, Daytona). This attracted sponsors, and before he knew it he was a top NASCAR driver winning Grand National titles in 1966, 1968 and 1969.

During the 70’s, Pearson specialized in superspeedway racing. Through the end of the 1970s, Pearson won 43 races. In addition to his mastery of Darlington, he posted remarkable numbers all over the circuit. He is one of two men to have won more than 100 races, and his 105 is second only to The King Richard Pettys 200 wins. Hes also second on career poles (113) to Petty. Head to head, however, he has a slight edge over NASCARs legendary King: in races where he and Petty finished 1-2, Pearson won 33 to Pettys 30. His 11 consecutive poles at Charlotte is a feat that will likely never be matched. Another record that may never be broken is his 18.29% winning percentage, as well as his record of starting from the pole in 20% of the races he ran.

In March, 2000, SC Highway 221 through Spartanburg County was renamed David Pearson Boulevard in his honor. He lives in Spartanburg to this day. Pearson still takes to the track occasionally–he and current NASCAR driver Carl Edwards were the first to race on the newly repaved Darlington Raceway last Spring. And he’s still known as ‘The Silver Fox’, a nickname given to him for his prematurely gray hair.

Though his fame would be eclipsed by his son Richard, Lee Petty was a very successful race car driver in his own right and a pioneer during the early days of the sport. His legacy includes not only his son, better known to NASCAR fans as “The King” Richard Petty and Petty Enterprises has fielded race teams for four generations.

Lee Petty was one of the first serious businessmen to own a NASCAR team back in the day when many drivers earned the bulk of their income from bootlegging and running moonshine. He competed in the first ever sanctioned NASCAR race on June 19th, 1949 and has the dubious distinction of causing the first caution flag in that race. The elder Petty won 50 NASCAR races including the first one ever run on a paved track. He also caused his share of trouble, including a number of fistfights. He once hit Curtis Turner over the head with a wrench and started a brawl during the pre-race festivities on another occasion. The fracas ended when Mrs. Petty joined the fray swinging her purse–which contained a .44 handgun.

Lee also won three NASCAR championships (the precursor to today’s Sprint Cup) during his career. He also shepherded his son, Richard, into the sport. Surprisingly, things didn’t immediately go well for the Petty offspring–he’d race only 9 times in the first season and ended up in a wreck more often than not. He’d eventually turn things around and the man now known as “The King” Richard Petty would go on to win a staggering 200 NASCAR races–a mark that may never be broken.

Lees career was cut short by a nasty accident at the 1961 Daytona 500, where his car hit a guard rail and flipped a few times. Lee suffered a number of broken bones and internal injuries. He raced a few more times, but hung it up for good in 1964. He left the management of Petty Engineering to his sons Richard and Maurice and spent his time enjoying friends and family and playing golf. He played frequently until a few months before his death in 2000 at age 86 after surgery to treat a stomach aneurysm.

Lee Petty has a number of NASCAR records that may never be touched. He finished in the top 5 an amazing 231 times, and still holds the record for the best average finish for a full time driver at 7.6th place. This was all done before big money sponsorships against part time felons that ran moonshine for a living, making his achievements all the more impressive.
